Triggered By Motion travels to the Swiss-Korean Innovation Week in Seoul
On the occasion of the Swiss-Korean Innovation Week 2023, Triggered By Motion travelled to the DongdaeMun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, South Korea.
As part of the special exhibition Travel Across Boundaries, the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich collaborated to show how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Metaverse can be used as research tools for the benefit of society and our planet. Triggered By Motion invited the audience to take a trip around the world with AI to observe wildlife.
Camera traps with motion sensors make it possible to observe animals in the wild without having to influence their behaviour or resort to invasive means such as collars or ear tags. However, this technology generates huge amounts of data, the evaluation of which is very time-consuming. Artificial intelligence is supposed to provide a remedy here: More and more research teams are relying on machine learning to speed up image analysis. The video installation Triggered by Motion documents this process. Using video data from 21 camera traps in 14 countries, we have built a walk-in pavilion in which visitors can immerse themselves in the natural environment of wildlife and experience local biodiversity.
